Join me for a visit and better understand this ground breaking, revolutionary art. Private tour in the Van Gogh museum, Amsterdam with VIP entry. Avoid crowds, best entry time is 9 AM, a sophisticated, lucid and in-depth Van Gogh museum tour. We will enter as early as possible and spend time discussing the early paintings in browns and blacks (1880-1885) and then his sojourn via Antwerp to Paris where he met Impressionists who gathered in Cafes, during a stay of two years.
Slowly he incorporated colour by working hard, painting many vases with flowers and in the end he allowed his palette to brighten and sparkle.
We will discuss Paintings, Biography, and the odd position of Impressionism.

Then he moved to Arles, in the south of France, where he planned to set up an art Academy. The first guest, Gauguin created a frisson and competition. Various stress factors led him to cut his ear.

Detail of a painting by Vincent, in the second most important museum, Kroller-Moller, in Otterlo.

The next stop on his Pilgrimage through Life was the insane asylum of St Remy de Provence. Quite a nice one… He had ups and downs there as can be seen in my production chart.

Finally after being released he stayed for two months in the quiet village of Auvers sur Oise. Reaching a production of two paintings per day. Whether he died by suicide of by an unfortunate game played by the “Buffalo Bill” kid, is open to discussion.

Great museum tour for Families, Small private groups, also for small Corporate events. Escorted Academic tour by scholar-lecturer, art historian Drs. Kees Kaldenbach*

Based on a broad study of literature. Incorporates the recent findings, and literature recently published: Van Gogh: The Life, by Steven Naifeh & Gregory White Smith.

My expertise ? I wrote the book: “Pilgrimage through life, Travelling in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh”, by Kees Kaldenbach & Michel Didier, Amsterdam 1990. Excerpts from this book: Listing of Vincents towns of habitation throughout his career. This is where he lived plus maps. Vincents production statistics, month by month. Vincents Color theory, which he applied in his art.

I have given more than 200 tours in this museum over the last 18 years, and know which stories hit the sweet spot.

Kees van Dongen.

Kees van Dongen, portrait of his wife, dressed in a smashing intensely blue dress, 1911. Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam. The wild expressive type of Van Gogh opened the doors for other artists to this exceptional freedom in design and colours. Lets call it post-expressionism.
