In better times, after re-opening: Join me for a visit to the National Gallery in London, England. I will be your private professore, travelling in from Amsterdam, Holland specially for you. The London National Gallery is a true treasure house, with many halls and rooms to discover and enjoy. Founded in 1824, it now houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900. The core was a purchase by the State, back in 1824, of paintings from the Angerstein collection. The museum was thus born with purchases, and not founded on an old Nobility collection, like most great museums in Western Europe.
