The cover of a book on Gabriel Metsu. The paintings came from Sir Alfred Beit, the diamond tycoon. He also owned the Vermeer as well. Causing to many burglaries at his home. Back in the 1970s, I corresponded with him!

Jan Steen, Nasty Schoolmaster. Crying boy. Order!

Bakhuysen, a marine painting.

Vermeer, one of his late paintings, almost Colour-By-Number, test effective. Come and see for yourself.

Group of Soldiers, by Duyster.

Frou-frou, lightweight and pretty; French 18th c. painting. Is it Boucher or Frago ?

And this may be the bombshell:  Caravaggio (Italian, 1571-1610) . The Taking of Christ, 1602. Unrecognized, it was hanging in the Refectory (Mess Hall) of a boarding school, and a times it was pelted with wet morsels of bread.

Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (Italian, 1571-1610) The Taking of Christ, 1602

Caravaggio being considered.
