Join me in this museum after 2018 – for a vist to the National Museum, Stockholm, Sweden. I will be your private professore, travelling in from Amsterdam, Holland specially for you.

Tour by Drs Kees Kaldenbach, a professional Art History scholar with excellent teaching skills. Specialist in Fine art and Design, Architecture and History. VIP entry. Entry best at from 9 or 10AM.

Please note, this is a high level offer. Practicalities: I live in Amsterdam, Holland and do NOT run a travel agency.  I do however provide Fabulous international museum tours. The plan is that you contract me for one or more days as your private ‘Professor’ and offer full transport to that city, plus hotel accommodation in the same place you will stay. We will spend quality time together in mornings and early afternoons.

Judith Leyster.

The Nationalmuseum initial art collection was assembled by Count Carl Gustaf Tessin (1696–1770), a diplomat and one of the great art collectors of his day. He held posts in Vienna, Berlin, and Paris. There he came into contact with the leading Parisian artists of the time and commissioned many works from them. By the time he left the city in 1742, he amassed an impressive collection of paintings and drawings.

The great Rembrandt is actually owned by the Stockholm Academy of Arts and is on loan to the Museum. They have allowed it to be exhibited in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum for 4 years!

The Judith Leyster is particularly fine.

Few parents were ready to finance a 6 year study to become an art painter, therefore few female artists existed in Holland.

Vasa ship, close by. Marvellous story.

We may also visit the stunning Wasa/Vasa Ship, which capsized in the cold waters within an hour of launching. The very cold temperatures took care of perfect preservation. The small personal objects found on the inside are a testament to daily life.

Triumph of Venus, a Boucher painting. Frolicking in the sea.

Rembrandt: the insurrection by Claudius Civilis. It takes information to start to love this outsize, almost bizarre work.

Hellquist. A chapter from Visby history. Outsize like a VR movie. When standing close, it envelopes you.

Swedish folk art gone mad.

Nordic man with a nose problem.

Sculpture, nude woman.

Impressionist, Landscape.

Vasa ship, in the Vasa museum, close by. Marvellous story.

Vasa was top-heavy and sank on its maiden voyage.

Seagull in Stockholm harbour. This is an actual photo I took, no photoshop.

Hellquist Visby. When standing close, it envelopes you like a 3D movie.
