Seurat and Pointillism

Seurat was the inventor of a new way of painting, reaching intensified colour and light in the human eye through Divisionism, by way of small dots of paint, Pointillism.

He studied the properties of light, especially Simultaneous Contrast of Colour, in which he took a colour circle and found that if he painted opposite colours next to each other, those colours intensified in the human brain.
At the end of is very short career he produced the Chahut / Cancan now in the Kroller museum and the Circus, now in the Orsay. We shall compare these side by side with excellent high resolution details. One fine day they were exhibited together.
